Silicones for microfusion molds

High-strength silicones for the lost wax method

Our Products

Coniex has developed a wide range of silicones for microfusion, which are marketed under the CASTEX line. We offer 5 different types of silicone for microfusion, which are divided according to several characteristics such as vulcanization temperature, reduction percentage, hardness and tear resistance. These silicones are ideal for molding by the lost wax method.

Main Technical Characteristics:

  • All types of hardness, from very low to high.
  • The vulcanisation temperature varies between 100°C and 160°C depending on the model.
  • Low shrinkage
  • Glossy finish
  • Variable hardness between high and very high.
  • Sheet size varies depending on the model.

Additionally, our CASTEX range of silicones for investment casting offers the following properties:

  • Surface finish: A shiny surface on your molds will make you get better and shinier wax parts, with excellent results.
  • No need for release agent or talc: The high elasticity of CASTEX Microfusion Silicone allows easy and fast demolding.
  • High tear resistance: With CASTEX, you will be able to make even the most difficult cuts without any problems.
  • Ease of molding: Due to its low raw viscosity, it allows embedding the part and placing it in the mold by simply pressing with the fingers. This is a significant time saver.
  • Excellent preservation: Moulds made with CASTEX microfusion casting silicone remain in perfect condition for many years.
  • Shrinkage: The shrinkage of CASTEX SM40/120 and SM43/120 is below 1.5%, while the shrinkage of SM45 and SM50 is around 2.8%.

CASTEX microfusion casting silicones offer high resistance and have been specially designed for making moulds for microfusion casting using the lost-wax method, both for jewellery and fashion jewellery, as well as for industrial steel applications.

The CASTEX silicone range offers excellent performance in the manufacture of investment casting model moulds, while providing some of the most faithful reproductions of the original available on the market.

CASTEX microfusion casting silicones allow different hardness levels to be combined in the same mould. In addition, thanks to their excellent mechanical properties, they can be used with talc, thereby avoiding cutting, or opened with a scalpel using the traditional method.

Once the mould has been made, subsequent processes such as cutting, accessing the model, and wax injection are simpler and more convenient than with rubber moulds. In addition, wax injection is smoother, as it is not necessary to use talc or silicone spray, if desired, for the wax to flow correctly through the mould.
