Degreasers for metal parts

Integral process for parts washing and degreasing

We offer a complete service for the washing and degreasing of metal parts and surfaces, including process design, installation and start-up of parts washers, as well as the selection and supply of the most suitable degreasing agent for each customer. We have a wide variety of degreasers and washers capable of meeting the objectives of any industry and process.

The degreasing of metal parts or surfaces is a process that consists of removing all types of dirt that is present on the metal part or surface.

This fouling is mainly generated during some of the production or finishing processes of metal surfaces, or during storage. Some of the most common items to be cleaned or removed are cutting oils, lubricants, machining emulsions, metal oxides, dust, chips, corrosion protectants, etc.

Industrial degreasers

At CONIEX we help you to choose the best process and product for an adequate washing and degreasing of your metal parts. We have all types of industrial washing machines (tunnel washer, cochlea, ultrasonic washer, etc.), as well as a wide range of degreasers capable of cleaning all types of parts and different metals.

Depending on the material to be treated and the type of dirt to be removed, we will apply one type of degreaser or another:

Multi-metal spray or ultrasonic degreaser, especially for weak metals such as aluminum or zamak.

Spray degreaser for iron, galvanized or electrogalvanized steel, prior to painting, shot blasting, etc.

Neutral degreaser for immersion or spray baths. Suitable for degreasing and cleaning iron, steel and delicate parts such as aluminum, zinc and painted surfaces.

Degreaser and passivating both by spraying and immersion, with high corrosion inhibition power.

Alkaline degreaser by immersion and ultrasound. It has a high degreasing and sequestering power.

Acid degreaser by immersion and ultrasound. It has a high degreasing and deoxidizing power.

Immersion and ultrasonic degreaser for weak metals such as aluminum and zamak. Designed for the removal of grease and oil, as well as polishing paste residues. Respects the brightness of the treated material highly sequestering the lime of the water. High dirt absorption capacity.

Antioxidants for washing processes

Sometimes, degreasing and washing processes may require a final protection of the treated parts, for which CONIEX has a complete range of water-based protective and passivating agents that help to inhibit rust and corrosion. Our antioxidants are as follows:

Antioxidant for ferrous metals, which allows to obtain passivated and slightly shiny surfaces that are protected against oxidation for a certain period of time, depending on the atmosphere of the room where the metals are stored.

Spray degreaser-passivant with corrosion inhibition power. This product is suitable for cleaning parts that must be temporarily protected against corrosion. It is a product with controlled foam generation.

Which degreaser is the most suitable?

The choice of the most suitable degreaser for each part or surface depends on several factors. The main ones are:

  • The characteristics and composition of each of the elements to be cleaned: oil, grease, dust, shavings, etc.
  • The size and geometry of the parts.
  • The metal from which the parts are made.
  • The number of parts to be cleaned.
  • The required cleaning quality.
  • The cost of cleaning and the available budget.
  • If the parts are to be re-treated after degreasing.
  • The possibility of recovering degreasing products.

Fouling prevention

There are a number of steps that can be taken to make the process of cleaning and degreasing metal parts and surfaces easier and less costly. The impact of these measures may be relative, or significant, depending on the nature of the parts and the characteristics of the production process:

  • Ensure that the finishing processes of the parts do not produce any additional soiling that would require additional investment and effort in cleaning and degreasing.
  • Control, as far as possible, the environmental conditions of the space where the parts are stored. Aspects such as humidity, leaks or temperature can affect the condition of metal parts and surfaces.
  • If materials such as drilling oils, oils or greases are used during the machining process and we know that they will have to be cleaned later, we can choose those types of lubricants whose cleaning and degreasing is easier.
  • Assess whether it is necessary to apply oil or grease protection to parts to be stored to prevent rust or corrosion. The main factor to consider is the length of time the parts will be stored. If they are not to be stored for long periods of time, it may be advisable not to apply any grease or oil, or to apply a small amount.
