White Corundum
Thanks to its wear resistance and excellent abrasive properties, corundum is used in processes such as:
- General surface cleaning
- Removal of stains, rust, and residual oxides from the surface of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
- Removal of metal residues from cast parts.
- Removal of scale and burrs from the surfaces of the parts to be treated.
- Removal of unwanted surface colours resulting from the heat treatment process.

Descripción
White corundum is one of the most widely used industrial abrasives in blasting and surface preparation, especially in applications requiring high purity, precision, and quality finishes.
It is composed of electrofused aluminium oxide (alpha alumina), with a high hardness of 2000–2100 Knoop, ensuring excellent cutting capacity and performance.
Characteristics of white corundum.
- High chemical purity
- Greater hardness compared to other abrasives
- Low substrate contamination
- High cleaning and grinding capacity.
- Generates uniform, high-quality finishes.
Unlike brown corundum, white corundum does not contain impurities such as iron or titanium oxides, making it ideal for technical and demanding applications.
Main Advantages
- Excellent performance in precision processes
- Ideal for sensitive materials or critical applications
- High reusability and durability
- Finer, more controlled finishes
- Compatible with multiple projection systems
Applications of white corundum
White corundum is particularly suitable for:
- Stripping of rust, paint and coatings
- Deburring of metal parts
- Surface preparation for painting or electroplating
- Improved adhesion (rubber-to-metal bonding)
- Engraved in stone, marble and granite
- Satin finishing of glass, metals and plastics
- Finishing of castings
- Correction of surface defects
Application systems
White corundum is mainly used in compressed-air blasting and can be applied using:
- Venturi systems (suction)
- Direct-pressure systems
It is also common in:
- Sandpaper and coated abrasives
- Grinding wheels
- Vibration processes
Compatible devices
- Manual blasting booths (suction or pressure)
- Portable sandblasters
- Blast rooms
- Dry and wet blasting machines
- Equipment with an air gun
