Cleaning and Degreasing of Metal Parts and Surfaces

Industrial washing machines for washing and degreasing metal parts.

Our industrial parts washers

The washing and degreasing process of metal parts and surfaces is essential to ensure business productivity, since any impurity or contamination present on the parts can jeopardize the final result of the production process being carried out.

Removing all grease residues involves the destruction of each oil molecule, which can be translated into the elimination of light oil accumulations, or the cleaning of grease accumulations that are deposited on the various components.

It is common for parts washing and degreasing to be carried out prior to other surface treatment processes such as pickling, passivation and polishing, as it provides a uniformly prepared surface for these subsequent treatments. As mentioned above, incorrect or insufficient degreasing could potentially create corrosion problems in any of these downstream processes.

The type of degreasing and washing to be carried out varies according to numerous factors, which will condition the choice of technologies and processes to be used. To achieve the desired result, it is necessary to know the basic elements involved in the fat removal process.

  • Type of metal: the materials of the parts can be iron (steels with different carbon content), stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and its alloys, copper and its alloys (brass, bronze, nickel silver, etc.), zinc and its alloys and others. Slightly alkaline solvents are used for aluminum and non-ferrous metals, while stronger alkaline solutions are required for steel and stainless steel.
  • Type of grease or oil to be removed: the removal of grease, lubricants and anti-corrosive oils may involve the use of different types of solvents and the use of specific machines. To cite a few examples, we can find light or heavy, synthetic or natural, refined or crude oils.
  • Degree of contamination: in addition to oil and grease, there may also be chips or other types of impurities and residues on the workpiece that need to be removed.

The analysis of these factors will help us to determine which type of parts washer is most suitable in each case. To maximize the effectiveness of the washing and degreasing process, the best washing machine must be chosen, and the most effective degreasing solvent must be used.

Whatever the type of industrial washing machine chosen, we offer a comprehensive service that combines the installation of the machinery, the supply of solvents, maintenance and spare parts, waste management and compliance with legal documentation.

Solvent washers

We have standard washing machines for parts with a simple morphology, as well as washing machines with chlorinated solvents, aliphatic hydrocarbons, hydrofluorocarbons, bromides and HFE, which are used when the parts have a more complex geometry: holes, cavities, threads, etc.

Rotary table washers

Rotary table washers are a technology for the batch washing and degreasing of metal parts. They include different processes, among which are calibration or precision washing, blowing and a hot air drying phase.

The parts are transported by means of a rotary table, which can be designed according to the characteristics of the parts and the number of parts to be washed. The speed of the rotary table is adjustable and stops can be carried out when it is necessary to perform a precision wash for more complex parts.

Industrial Washing and Degreasing Tunnel for Parts

Washing and degreasing tunnels are ideal machines for cleaning medium to large metal parts. These machines operate continuously and are specially designed for in-line production processes with parts loading from the front and unloading from the rear.

Immersion and Ultrasonic Washing Machines

Ultrasonic washers are designed to carry out different processes, such as cleaning, descaling and pickling of all types of metal parts, components and accessories. All washing is performed by immersion and ultrasound with water-based detergents.

These machines carry out the total immersion of the parts to be washed by means of a pneumatic platform, which oscillates to facilitate washing. This process is accompanied by an ultrasonic phase, which takes place at the bottom of the washer.

Hydrokinetic Immersion Washing Machines

Coniex designs and supplies hydrokinetic washers for the washing of parts and components of special complexity that require a high quality final wash. We have different models for different productivities. Our hydrokinetic washers operate exclusively with water-based detergents.

Rotary drum and cochlea washing machines

These parts washers operate in continuous operation by spraying and immersion and use water-based detergents at a maximum temperature of 70°C. In rotary drum and auger washers, parts are loaded continuously and in bulk into a auger drum. The loading of the parts can be carried out by an operator, by means of a loader or directly by the machine tool.
